Mary visits Big Lottery Funded projects in North Tyneside

"This month, I was interested to visit some projects in North Tyneside that have received funding from the Big Lottery Fund.

It was fantastic to hear that Richardson Dees Primary School were able to secure a grant of £175 000 a couple of years ago, and with the money they have been running lots of activities for the community to get involved in. In particular, the creative groups for local families and the gardening projects have been a roaring success. North Tyneside Carers Centre received the staggering amount of over £800, 000 for their work to raise awareness of the number and needs of young people who have caring responsibilities. Both projects are making a huge difference to lives in our constituency, and I hope they continue to thrive.

The Big Lottery Fund website gives details of all the funding that is available. The Reaching Communities programme and the Awards for All programme are both worth a look. Before applying to any programme it is worth discussing your funding needs with North Tyneside VODA, or calling the Big Lottery Fund Big Advice Line on 0845 4 10 20 30."
