-Donate your unwanted items to BHF Furniture & Electrical Stores when upgrading in the sales-

Local people in the North East are as keen as ever to snap up a bargain in the January sales. 60% of people from the North East admit they are prepared to wait for up to three months to purchase household items in the sales – according to research by British Heart Foundation (BHF) Furniture & Electrical Stores.

Over half of people revealed that they waited to buy items in the sales to be thrifty 72%, while 34% said they wanted to spend more money on other items and 5% even revealed that they waited to buy these items because their partner wouldn’t let them buy the items full price! The survey also revealed that people from the North East expect to save an average of 28% for their purchases in the January sales.

Shockingly, 26% of people from the North East even admitted that they throw away their unwanted furniture and electrical items after buying new goods!

North East BHF Furniture & Electrical Stores are calling on local people to donate their unwanted household goods after buying new items in the January sales. BHF North East Stores are always looking for donations of sofas, chairs, dining sets, beds and wardrobes plus an array of electrical items including TVs, Hi-Fis, washing machines, fridges and dishwashers.

Barry Greenstreet, Regional Manager said: “With so many local people buying new household items such as beds and sofas in the January sales we know there will be a lot of unwanted items around. It’s shocking that 26% of local people said that they throw out their unwanted furniture and electrical goods so we just want to remind everyone that we’re always looking for donations for our North East BHF Stores and offer a free collection service.

“When you consider that selling two sofas can provide a heart patient with a hand held ECG machine so that they can monitor their heart at home, it really puts into perspective how much our North East BHF Stores need these items.”

To arrange a free collection please call your local Store or visit bhf.org.uk/free to book your collection online. To find out where the Store is located please visit bhf.org.uk/shops.
